My Artful Awakening
I am an expressive, abstract artist living my dream in the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina. I am so grateful to be living and painting in such an inspiring place that speaks to my soul.
I have loved and been inspired by art, ocean, color, nature since I was a child, but it wasn’t until my “artful awakening” or “midlife metamorphosis” that I became fully devoted to painting and my creative process. Painting allows me to explore and express my emotions on the canvas—to dream, play, create and awaken my inner artist, to connect with my soul. Painting brings me great joy and allows me to share that joy with others. I have been able to guide others to experience their own “artful awakenings” through my classes, coaching and retreats.
I use an intuitive painting process, painting from the inside out. I begin without a preconceived outcome in mind, focusing more on the process—just me, the blank canvas, and my palette of paints. I start each painting with a positive affirmation or intention and allow intuition to guide me and my ideas to flow freely onto the canvas. Each painting is a new journey as I add layer upon layer of paint and see what possibilities emerge. Sometimes it’s pattern, design, drips and dots, other times it’s an abstract landscape or seascape, and sometimes a subject or figure emerges. I then work with that emerging theme until I am satisfied with the color and composition and the painting feels complete. Each painting is full of color, joy and positive energy and I hope that’s what they bring to you!
When I am not painting in my sunny studio, you can find me walking the beach, enjoying sunrises and sunsets with my husband, visiting my adult children in Virginia, exploring new places, looking for art and adventure.
